Arestin: Fighting infection where it starts
Periodontal disease is a chronic infection of the gums and bone holding you teeth in place. If left untreated, the gums and bone can be damaged, leading to possible tooth loss.
It's important to treat periodontal disease, as brushing and flossing alone will not prevent disease progression.
Periodontal disease is today's #1 cause of tooth loss among American adults. In addition, although a causal relationship between periodontal disease and an elevated risk for systemic events has not been established, recent data suggest a possible association between periodontal disease and other health issues including cardiovascular disease, diabetes, and preterm low birth-weight babies.
Fight infection right where it starts
ARESTIN® (minocycline hydrochloride) is an effective antibiotic treatment that is used in combination with scaling and root-planing (SRP). Clinical studies have shown greater improvement in periodontal health with SRP plus Arestin, as compared to SRP alone. Arestin is a fine powder which is placed between the gums and teeth. Application is comfortable, no bandages are required, and it won't leak or fall out.
